Brightin Schlumpf, violin/viola
Unique in her vast experience as a violinist and violist, Brightin Rose Schlumpf is pursuing a varied career in orchestra and chamber music performance, and as a pedagogue. Originally from Vashon Island, WA, Ms. Schlumpf began her studies in Suzuki violin at the age of six. From then on, she continued her studies in Houston and Philadelphia. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude in music at Cornell University, where she studied with Kia Hui Tan and Susan Waterbury.
Following her undergraduate studies, Ms. Schlumpf completed her 1st Master of Music degree in violin and viola performance at Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA in May 2010 as a student of Laura Bossert. In Boston, she playing in varied venues including orchestral performance in Sanders Theater at Harvard University to the Middle
East Bar and Club as a member of the Neave String Quartet with singer/songwriter John Shade.
In May 2012, she finished her second Master of Music degree in viola performance as a full scholarship student and teaching assistant to Erika Eckert at the University of Colorado in Boulder. At CU Boulder, Ms. Schlumpf worked with Erika Eckert, in addition to Geraldine Walther of the Takacs Quartet. While at CU, She enjoyed sitting principal
viola in the CU Symphony Orchestra, as well as playing in her graduate string quartet, and many other chamber ensembles.
Some of her further musical studies have been at the Killington Music Festival, Meadowmount School of Music, LyricaFest, the Karen Tuttle Coordination Workshop, and the Aspen Music Festival and School, which she attended for five summers as a scholarship student.
Her recent orchestral experience includes the Steamboat Springs Symphony Orchestra, Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Longmont Symphony, Emerald City Opera, and sitting principal in the Denver Philharmonic. As a chamber musician, Ms. Schlumpf played with the Chautauqua String Quartet from 2010-12, including at a residency in the Vail Public Schools in April 2011. She also performs in a violin/viola and piano duo, ZWEI, with pianist Amanda Riggers, and as a member of Aspen Leaf Chamber Players.
As a teacher, Ms. Schlumpf enjoys teaching privately at the Golden Music Center, at her home in Boulder, and as the strings/orchestra teacher at Shepherd Valley Waldorf School in Niwot, CO. She served on faculty at the CU Summer Music Academy in 2012-2013, in addition to serving as a teaching assistant to undergraduates at CU Boulder from 2010-12.

Adam Riggs, cello
At age of four, Adam Riggs started studying the cello with Sally Gross, former cello teacher of the Suzuki String School of Guelph. He won many awards and competed at the National level before continuing his musical studies in university.
He began his undergraduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier University where he studied with Paul Pulford, Simon Fryer and members of The Penderecki String Quartet. In his freshman year, he won the highly competitive concerto competition. Four years later, Adam was presented with a Bachelor of Music, Honours Performance degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. He completed a Diploma in Chamber Music at Wilfrid Laurier University the following year.
He began is graduate studies at The Hartt School, in Connecticut studying with Mihai Tetel on full scholarship. In his first year of his graduate studies at the Hartt School, Adam was a finalist in the the Miami String Quartet Competition and winner of the John Jorgenson Cello Scholarship. After being awarded with a Masters of Music Degree from The Hartt School, he spent a year in the Artist Diploma program at Hartt, before beginning his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of Colorado Boulder with Judith Glyde. At University of Colorado, he also worked with Andras Fejer, cellist of the Takacs Quartet.
In 2011 Adam began collaborating with Life/Art Dance Ensemble, a 501(c)3 non-profit modern dance company dedicated to bringing high quality dance performances to low-income seniors. In 2012 he became performance manager of the ensemble, working heavily in fundraising, publicity and promotion of the group, while performing with the group in nearly all their shows. He is also the cellist of the Calliope Trio, which was formed in 2012.
Adam has attended many summer music programs including, the Banff Centre, where he has studied with Mr. Aldo Parisot and Shauna Rolston and had coachings with pianist Julian Martin from the Juilliard School of Music; the Cassalmaggiore Festival where he studied with with Simon Fryer, Lucie Robert, Robert Cohen and Roger Chase; and the ARIA International Summer Music Academy in 2008 where he studied with Anthony Elliot and Julia Lichten.
In addition to his performing career, Adam has taught on the faculty of University of Colorado's Summer Music Academy since it's inception in 2012, in addition to teaching on the faculty of University of Colorado Continuing Education department since 2010. In 2013 he was hired as the cello instructor at the Parlando School of the Arts in Boulder, Colorado.
Adam is also owner and photographer for AR Pictures, based in the Denver area, where he lives with his wife, Jessica.
Adam plays on a cello made in 2008 by well known Canadian maker Gregory T. Walke and a bow by Gregory’s twin brother Bernard Walke, one of Canada’s foremost bow makers.
